Watch Friday’s Eclipse with Elan Valley Astronomy!
Now doubt you’ve heard that the skies are going to be a little darker at around 8:30am this Friday thanks to a solar eclipse, which will see the moon cover up to around 90% of the sun, which is the first to affect mainland UK since 2011! We all know that the Cambrian Mountains is a fantastic destination for stargazing, but the Elan Valley Visitor Centre will be putting on a special event!
Most recently, you might have seen the lads from Top Gear driving a Landrover up the side of a dam, but you needn’t go to such extremes to see Friday’s eclipse. The unique event will take place between 8.30am and 10.30am and depending on the weather, you’ll go to either Banc y Defaid Bridge OR Penrhiw-wen.
If the weather is really bad, the Elan Valley Visitor Centre will be open from 8.30am so you can view the Eclipse via live stream in comfort! Telescopes will be available to safely view this event. Remember-never view the Sun directly without specially filtered optics.
