Emyr Williams mid-exhibition talk at Nanteos Mansion
On Saturday the 18th of October, award-winning artist Emyr William will be giving a mid-exhibition talk at The Gallery in Nanteos Mansion in a private viewing of his works “Made in Wales, Made of Wales”.
During this viewing there will be talk by the artist on the evolution and context of the Roll Paintings and the nature of figuration in these new lino-prints: 7 pm.
The Roll series works were made in a studio in Wales, whilst these new prints were made in response to the landscape very near to Nanteos; namely the beautiful Cardigan Bay and Cambrian Mountains.
Emyr Williams is an award winning artist with work in many public and private collections worldwide. For this exhibition he has chosen to pair some of his most radical abstract works, “The Roll Series” with more figurative approaches in a series of black and white lino-cuts. The prints are expressive responses to the landscape, primarily the coast line of Cardigan Bay.
The artist said, “I am grateful to Nanteos – and in particular Nigel and Shane for the opportunity to exhibit in such a great place. I have known the area practically all my life and wanted to find a way to connect with it through landscape without compromising my abstract work.”
