Stepping into September

If you’re a long term planner this is perfect for you…

STEPtember 2014 includes 17 communities that are either located in the Cambrian Mountains or are close enough to afford great views of this incredible high moorland.

STEPtember 2014 is 30 walks across September, with walks that include a variety of celebrations of the region. This credible walking product should tempt walkers to this region of Wales allowing them to ‘taste’ real localness.

The project is a result of the successful Cambrian Mountains Walking Weekend that allowed for collaboration between like-minded, community groups and tourism enterprises, coordinated by the Cambrian Mountains Tourism Group.

Information is available at the Cambian Mountains website. Each community will take full ownership of each walk and implement plans to promote this month-long walking ‘festival’. Hopefully locals as well as visitors will sign up and this allowing for increased footfall and spend in attractions, food and drink establishment and accommodation.

Easy: 0.6 miles – Penbont Woods is a walk that takes around 30 mins to complete. This route is classified as moderate.

Medium: 9 miles – Elan Valley Trail  is a walk which can be completed in roughly 3 hours time.

Difficult: 18.5 miles – Reservoir Challenge is a 7 hour long hike that is 18.5 miles long. The route classification is ‘strenuous’ which require a great effort.
