Survival skills courses – 5 and 6 October

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s Elan Valley rangers are offering visitors the chance to brush up on their survival skills next weekend with a range of courses.

Bushcraft taster session, Saturday 5th October, 2013
Participants will have the opportunity to make and eat their own rustic bread cooked over an open fire. At the same time they will learn how to carve using just a bushcraft knife and try their hand at fire lighting.

There will be two sessions running from 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm, both starting at the Visitor Centre.

Booking is essential and participants should wear old clothes and dress appropriately for being outdoors for the whole session. To book a place, call 01597 810898.

Tracking, Trapping and field skills course, Sunday, 6th October, 2013
Budding wildlife detectives will have the opportunity to learn all about the art of wildlife tracking from the countryside rangers, with the aim of capturing the animals on camera.

This event will start at Llanerch y Cawr car park at 10am and will finish at 12.30pm. Booking is also recommended for this event by calling 01597 810898.

Welsh Water is committed to promoting access and recreation at its reservoir sites as well as managing over 42,000 hectares of land and enhancing the special wildlife areas in its care.
